Data Platform team resides in the tech department and is responsible for architecting, building and operating an On-Premise
and Cloud Database Platform as a Service for all departments throughout the company. This opening is for an MS SQL Server DBA and requires a service oriented mentality, high sense of ownership and exceptional customer service. The company databases are migrating from a SQL2008 virtualized Platform to a highly automated, virtualized SQL2012-14 Hybrid Cloud Platform utilizing the latest compute and storage technology to offer maximum performance, availability and security. We are looking for a highly motivated and talented DBA to build and maintain a best in class Database Platform and keep our clients at the forefront of latest technologies.
Responsibilities would include:
- Manage a centralized MS SQL Server 2008, 2012 and 2014 Platform consisting of thousands of mission critical databases
- Work with the database engineering team to design and implement continuous service improvements to a world class database management platform
- Manage database Disaster Recovery and High Availability for financial research, portfolio management and trading databases to tight SLA’s
- Establish and maintain communications with uniquely talented software developers
- Review and fix issues with database backups, maintenance, monitoring and performance, providing on-call rotation and off-hours support
- Manage database server security to exacting standards
Position Requirements:
· 5+ years experience as an MS SQL Server Database Administrator in a mission critical SQL 2008-2012 Shared Platform environment
· Management of large transactional database systems (multiples of hundreds of GBs in size)
· High Availability and recoverability of databases in 24/7 environment by using clustering, replication, mirroring, log shipping, backup and restore to meet RTO/RPO objectives
· Experience of platform migration/upgrade projects to latest versions of SQL Server (SQL 2008 / 2008 R2 to SQL 2012 and 2014)
· Strong command of performance tuning and proven experience in troubleshooting application performance problems (Indexing, Optimizer, server configuration, Profiler, DMV etc) including TSQL programming and debugging skills
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software / Information Science, Computer Engineering or a related field of study
Desired experience:
· Microsoft Certified Database Administrator (MCDBA)
· SQL2012 Always On architecture
· Migration of database services to Cloud (e.g, Amazon, Azure, Rackspace)
· Experience of Reporting, Analysis and Integration Services (SSRS/SSIS/SSAS)
